Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust to Raise $1 Million by Christmas!
3 December 2004
This Christmas Cookie Munchers are going to take over New Zealand in a bid to fundraise $1 million before Christmas for the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust.
To raise the $1 million the Trust is selling Cookie Muncher soft toys for $25. Cookie Time itself donated 40,000 soft toys to ensure that 100 per cent of the purchase price goes to the Trust to benefit children.
The Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust, formed by the owners of Cookie Time, creates opportunities for children and young people throughout New Zealand to realise their potential by making available innovative learning programmes to children who would not otherwise be able to participate.
Guy Pope-Mayell, Trustee of Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust and Director of Cookie Time says the Trust assists young people by being a leader and an innovator in the education sector.
“For me and the others involved, the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust is the natural expression of our passion for life and what can be achieved when young people are given certain experiences and opportunities.
“We are committed to providing innovative and proactive leadership in education in order to make a real difference in children’s lives.”
The latest initiative the Trust is supporting is the Davis Dyslexia Correction® programme, which helps young New Zealanders with learning difficulties, in particular dyslexia.
The Trust will raise awareness and provide scholarships for school aged children to participate in the programme, which has a 97 per cent success rate. The scholarships will be awarded to students who would otherwise struggle financially to take part.
Pope-Mayell says, "The Davis Dyslexia Correction® programme provides early intervention for what can otherwise be years of frustration and 'failure' for kids, and bring out the inherent creativity which often accompanies dyslexia.”

The soft toys can be bought from Christmas Cookies sellers who are currently doing the rounds of local businesses. They can also be purchased online at www.cmct.org.nz or via 0800 COOKIE (0800 266543).
