Mackenzie Thorpe Millbrook Exhibition

An exhibition of internationally acclaimed artist Mackenzie Thorpe's monumental sculptures were on display at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown during 2008.

Unveiled for the first time in Kansas City in October 2006, Mackenzie's monumental sculpture tour then traveled to Christchurch to support the launch of the Dyslexia Discovery Exhibit in Worcester Boulevard. The sculptures succeed in spreading Mackenzie’s message of hope.

An extensive collection of original artworks, bronze and resin sculptures, as well as a selection of limited edition etchings and prints were also on exhibit at the Millhouse venue, Millbrook Resort. These artworks were for sale, with the Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand benefiting from these.

500,000 Brochures

In 2007, the Cookie Time Charitable Trust proudly released a brochure addressing dyslexia titled 'The Gift of Picture Thinking'.

The brochure, the first of its kind, outlines what dyslexia is, what it is not and the challenges and the gifts it brings.

Via a massive mail out, this brochure was made available to all schools, libraries, and medical centres throughout New Zealand.

Scholarship Programme

The Cookie Time Charitable Trust has supported many New Zealand families through the Davis Dyslexia Correction programme. Close to $200,000 of scholarships were awarded from 2005 - 2007 to families that could otherwise not afford this solution.

The Trustee’s recently reviewed this activity and after much consideration have decided to bring it to an end. Round six was our last, with $33,000 of scholarships awarded to eighteen families throughout New Zealand. We appreciate that this will be a disappointment to many.

The scholarship program has been a great success and we look forward to announcing new initiatives in due course.
