Background & History

Cookie Time, principal sponsor of the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust, was started by Michael Mayell and his brother Guy Pope-Mayell over 24 years ago. They had a goal of creating a business that would bring out the best in the people that chose to work alongside them. From this environment came the desire to make a difference to the lives of young New Zealanders.

Initiatives such as the 'Cool to be Kind' roadshow, which took its anti-bullying message to school children nationwide, and the student driven technology workshop 'Kids Congress', were the early seeds of what was to become the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust.

Established in 2003, the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust has the purpose of improving the

educational opportunities available for children and young people throughout New Zealand.

2004 saw the creation of eTime, a technology rich educational centre located in the heart of Christchurch.

The centre provides programmes for primary and Intermediate aged students and professional development programmes for teachers. It has established a reputation for innovation in education and is well supported by schools throughout New Zealand. The centre has state of the art ICT technology and a learning environment specially designed to motivate and enhance learning for young people.
